Outfit: Someone Like You

I am in love with this song from Adele, anyone else? I think her voice is so interesting. The song is sad but a good song nonetheless. It's been stuck in my head all day.

Today's outfit came to me in my half slumber this morning when I was envisioning what to pack in my gym back---this is an exercise I typically partake in to avoid getting out of bed. I've really kept all of my button up shirts from my professional office days in the back of my closet but I think it's time I start rotating them into the mix.

Top: Old Navy
Jeans: Banana Republic
Belt: Banana Republic
Wedges: Cynthia Vincent for Target
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I've been super busy at work, I'm hoping it slows down soon---I'm pooped! This weekend we are heading to the Keys so I just need to power through this week (and wishfully hope for good weather). Hopefully your week is going great!!!!

Loving: DiorShow Maximizer

I have a new product that I have been using for about 3 weeks now and I have to say I love it. Anyone that has been reading for a while knows that I am 100% truly, madly, and deeply in love with DiorShow Blackout Mascara. I have been using this for about four years now and after searching high and low for a comparable product, I have only come close once (which I do think is a good product but I'm still a Dior user).

The last time I got a new tube of mascara, the associate at the Dior counter at Dillards gave me a sample of the DiorShow Maximizer Primer. I have never really used lash primer as I didn't really see the benefits from the minimal trials I had done with various products. Since I had the sample, I figured why not. I now know why not, because I fell in love and this is yet another Dior product that I now feel I have to have!

I have to share. When I first began using it, I wasn't fully in love--it takes a little bit of time learning how to apply and how much and also the time to wait between using this and the black mascara. I have learned that mine works best if I use the primer lightly on the first couple stroked and then with a heavier hand, wiggle the primer all over to really coat the lashes. Using the lighter hand at first helps to not overload the product, which creates clumps. I do the primer on both eyes first and then use the mascara, I find by the time I use the primer on the second eye, the "dryness" of the primer on the first is perfect.

With this primer, I find that my eyelashes are better spread and I only need one coat of mascara (I shamefully admit that at times I was using 2-3 coats previously). The product says it can actually be used at night before bed to condition the lashes. This product not only gives me better lashes, but it good for my lashes too. I feel like it took me a week or so to really get the best way to use this since I'm not a primer user typically but I love it.

Oh and one of the biggest selling points for me is that the mascara washes off so much better with the primer. If I do not use the primer, it takes me washing my face twice to get all of the mascara off, even using a makeup removing face wash (I don't really use eye makeup remover, no reason really--I just never have). I really love that it washes off so easily.

These pictures were after work so my makeup is about 10 hours "old".

Overall, I love how the lashes look separated and long, I love that I only need one coat of mascara, and I also love that it washes off much easier. I know not everyone shares my love of dramatic lashes for everyday wear but if you do, I recommend this (well both of these really). Have any of you tried these? Let me know your thoughts!

Oh and one more thing...tomorrow is FRIDAY! I'm babysitting my 10 month old niece on Saturday (who just took her first steps this week) so I am really excited to hang out and play with her. This age is so fun!

Hope you had a great week (let's talk in past tense as if it's already over, ok?) :-)

Outfit: Do You Want to Polka!

Another week is upon us. Today's top was purchased this weekend at White House Black Market. There was a lot in the store that I loved and I wish I would have purchased a couple of them but hopefully I can wait around while for them to go on sale. I really loved this dress and these heels.

The hubs and I went downtown again for some pictures. A lot of time the hubs snaps away and I just stand there not really posing and those are usually the best pictures rather than me posing and smiling.

For all of you weather-conscious readers, what do you think about Hurricane Irene? I'm weird and actually like all of the excitement and chaos that surrounds hurricanes. I am wishing for enough winds and rain for days off but not so much that damage and injuries happen. Here is a radar picture of what it looks like right now. Crazy huh! We will see where it ends up.

Hope you all have a great week!!!

Outfit and a Little Flare...

It's here, the end of the week has arrived. This has been a pretty decent week, busy at work but not chaotic and home has been great--dinners with the hubs and enjoying spending the nights catching up on tv and reading my latest book--Then Came You from Jennifer Weiner.

I'm wearing this blazer from Express again---I just love it so much. I wish I had it in the white and black also. It's very versatile and I think it will be a great piece to transition into fall with. Who knows---Express is constantly sending coupons, maybe I'll end up with another one soon enough.

I hope your week is going awesomely (is that a word?! Not sure). I'm off to read a little before bed. Happy Friday Friends!

Nails...bright and cheery!

Hey guys! I am trying to get more creative with my nails to liven things up a bit and I really love the trend of one nail off a little bit in color or adding glitter to one nail. I did a nice red for July 4th and added red glitter on top to one nail but this is my first attempt at two different colors. I love the idea. I think it's really a great way to have fun.

My only complaint is that maybe the orange is a little too harsh in comparison to the lighter color. This was the first time I used this orange and I think OPI Hot & Spicy might have worked a little better with this light coral color. The lighter color is very sheer and I had to put two coats on white on first and top it with 3-4 more coats to get this color. I will be on the look out for a light coral color that is more opaque--recommendations are welcome!

Here is my look.

Some other combinations I am thinking to try in the future are light pink with a fuchsia and baby blue with a turquoise...pictures to come when I try them of course.

Not sure how many country music fans I have out there but I am in love with this song and this version with Ludacris is really fun too.

I watched the CMT Music Festival on Sunday and LOVED it and have been in a major country music mood lately. What has been your go-to song lately?? I listen to every single kind of music so I would love to get some new music suggestions!

Happy Hump Day! We are on the downhill slide!

Outfit and a Weekend Recap...

Happy beginning of another new week friends! I had a really nice weekend and am happy to be beginning another great week. Saturday began with a nice four mile run followed by a trip to Sarasota for the Fit2Run store, a running specialty store I LOVE. My sister and her boyfriend joined us and then we ended up at Siesta Key Beach for the rest of the afternoon. This beach has been voted best beach in the country multiple times and since I had never been, we decided to visit it. It was a great day and the beach was gorgeous. I recommend to anyone in the area.

For any of you that watch Man vs Food, you may have heard of a restaurant called Munchies 420 Cafe in Sarasota. This restaurant (using that word loosely) has been featured on this show. I personally do not watch this show but since my sister's boyfriend does, he was very gung-ho to visit this place since we were in the area. I saw the menu and about died, you have to check it out! Their selections include items called Fat Faf and Fat Daddy.

My husband, sister, and I all ordered relatively calm, "normal" menu items (cheeseburgers and philly cheese steaks that were still massive but normal more or less) and they were pretty tasty but all three us of only conquered about 40% of the meals. All I was thinking was "There goes my run" lol.

My sister's boyfriend, however, is one of these people that has a bottomless pit for a stomach and a stomach of steel. He ordered the Fat Sandy which consisted of two cheeseburgers, mac & cheese, chicken fingers, onion rings, french fries, and mozzarella sticks on a hoagie type roll about 12" long. This thing was massive and he ate the WHOLE THING in less than 20 minutes. I was so very impress (and grossed out all at the same time). Best part is, he wasn't sick afterwards lol. This place was so weird and small and definitely not a place to go on a diet but an experience is a great way to put it. Made for a fun and interesting trip to say the least.

The rest of the weekend was laid back and enjoyable, consisting of a little shopping, running errands, and dinner with the family.

Outfit for today is a repeat but hubs was ready and willing for some picture taking so here we are. I love this skirt and don't wear it nearly enough.

I hope you all are having a good week and had an enjoyable weekend. Happy Monday!

Mad Men Collection: Banana Republic

Happy Weekend All!! I am finally here. This past two weeks has been crazy at work with quarter end and the weather has been horrendous. It rained all day every day from Monday through Thursday and even half of the day yesterday. My outfits were less than exciting to say the least.

Yesterday was my last Friday Half Day that my company offers for the summer. After leaving around lunch time, I went to Banana to check out the Mad Men Collection. I am just beginning to watch this show and while the beginning is a little slow so far, I still like watching and am interested to see where the series goes.

As for the collection, I love it! I got the flyer a little over a week ago and had picked favorites and was excited to try things on. When I arrived at BR, I noticed a lot missing and unfortunately, my BR is still waiting for the other half of the collection to arrive next week. I will be going back at that time with my 25% off coupon to make some decisions.

Here are some of my favorites:

This is my favorite outfit that they have styled in the whole collection. I think the color of the skirt will be great for Fall and I love the muted yet interesting print of the cardigan.

I love this look also with the trench but I'm not 100% sold on this look of the dress without a cardi or trench overtop. Maybe I should just get the trench and sport it with any dress I already currently own. It's pretty fabulous!

And then some other items I love!!

These heels in both of these colors are great. I love that the leopard is a little different than normal leopard print, a little more dark in color.

This outfit just looks so great and polished and I personally would never think to pair the leopard bag and shoes with the gray but I think it works really well.

I think this is a great classic black dress. The little fringe of lace peeking out of the bottom is a great touch of something a little different.

Has anyone purchased anything from the collection? I'll keep you posted of my purchases next week!!

I hope your Saturday is awesome and wish you an exciting and interesting Sunday! Much love!!

Outfit: Easy Peasy...

Lately I have been really stepping up my workouts and have really started incorporating yoga and pilates into my weekly schedule. I only have one pair of yoga pants and started looking around Victoria's Secret for their selection of pants. Since they are quite affordable, I thought I would try some out. In my online search for yoga pants, I came across this shirt and ended up getting one in white and one in this color. I love the neckline and for the shirt being so simple, I got quite a few compliments on it.

--please excuse the weird pics--the wind was blowing the shirt against me and the sun was in my eyes---these are the best I got ;-)

Happy Wednesday---I'm off to continue my week long catching up of Bachelorette. Thanks for checking!

Outfit: A Little Blazer Goes a Long Way...

It's back for out of the closet for appearance number two---my Express blazer I wore here. I am so in love with this blazer and love that it is so affordable, especially with all of the coupons Express sends my way. I got home really late last night so we couldn't really do sunny outdoor pictures therefore the details of the shirt isn't really apparent with the indoor lighting.

I"m totally exhausted and so ready for bed so I am going to be lame and head there now, yes a 9pm bed time lol. I hope you week is going awesome and thanks for reading!

Outfit Post: Short and Sweet

Happy Monday guys. Today was Monday at it's finest. My day started out with a horrible run at 6am, then a crazy busy work day as this was day one of quarter end (and to make things even better, we find out that instead of having the books closed in 3.5 days, they have to be closed in 2.5 days). Needless to say, I had a very blah day that consisted of working until 8 and pouting most of the day, yes I am a brat and yes I am ok with it. ;-)

This outfit is from yesterday. We had a nice dinner with my father-in-law at a quaint French restaurant that had really great food. I took the cloth belt that came with this dress and added it for a little something different to this dress. Not overly inventive but it's so hot here that finding the motivation to dress in something other than sundresses is tough.

And just because I am a total dork...
I told you all I love Coke and how cute are these mini cans :-)

Well I am off to bed. I am a week behind in Bachelorette and tonight is the finale. I have to try my hardest to stay away from spoilers---I don't want to find out too soon. I was going to try and watch last week's tonight but I didn't get home until 8:30 and now it's bed time! Here's hoping I can stay away from the Bachelorette Twitter posts, Facebooks posts, and blogs.

I hope your Monday was better than mine and I'm hoping tomorrow is a better day! Thanks for stopping by!
