Thanksgiving was great---It's Christmas Time!

Thanksgiving has come and gone and unfortunately, it's time for work again tomorrow. My Thanksgiving was great! Thursday morning started out with the local Turkey Trot 5k with my hubs and sister. I found awesome hats at to wear during the race, I also made us all matching shirts for the occasion.

After the race, we rushed home to check on the turkey, we popped him in the oven before we left for the race. The timer went off the minute we walked through the door and Dexter (we name our turkey ever year) was perfectly done and ready to go. After much preparing and cooking, we were all ready to eat at about noon. My mom and brother came with my grandfather. It was such a great day. It was one of the smallest Thanksgiving's I've ever had but overall it was great. It always amazes me that dinners take so long to prepare and literally minutes to consume.

Stuff and totally exhausted!! (I remember now why I haven't prepared Thanksgiving for the past four years!)

Today we went and got our Christmas tree. The tree is decorated and some decor is up but not all of it. Here is a sneak peak of the tree!

Well off to work tomorrow and unfortunately, it's month end close (which equals busy time). Hopefully the week flies by! Hope your Thanksgiving weekend was awesome and have a great week! I'm thankful for all of you readers!

DIY: Glitter In My Veins

I know I have mentioned Pinterest before but my obsession has grown immensely. Since my first discovery, I have spent endless hours pining over various DIY projects and ideas for outfits. My latest obsession has been DIY Glitter Pumps. I tackled this today and I am so glad I did. The results are perfect!

I started with a pair of black pumps that I really don't wear, Mod Podge, Glitter, Sponge brushes, White acrylic paint and bowls.

I got various colors and wasn't really sold on any one color so I decided to mix my own multi-color.

Here is the end results despite the various shades that show in the pictures below.

Next I took the white paint and covered the shoes entirely. I didn't want the black base to affect the shade of the glitter.

Once the paint dried, I added Mod Podge to my glitter until it made a glue like consistency and started painting it on the shoes.

Be sure to keep the glue covered while waiting for the coats to dry.

I did two full coats and touched up any holes once the first two coats dried.

Since I am an extremely anal person, I took an exacto knife and cleaned up the bottom black piece to make it all even and black.

Here is the finished result---the different shades is due to different lighting---

This was super easy and I plan on making a couple more pairs in different colors and maybe some flats. I had glitter left over so after scouring the house for something to paint, I painted a headband (modeled by my sister!) and the clasp of a clutch.

I'm really happy with the results and can't wait to wear these. I need to pick up some sort of sealer to add to the shoes before I wear them out and about. All of the Pinterest things I read on these shoes said they hold up very well. I'll keep you posted!

Off to make my herbs for the turkey and finish our pecan pie. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!

Outfit: Getting Ready for Turkey!

It's Thanksgiving week---firstly, Yay!! secondly, where did this year go? I cannot believe 2011 is almost over. This year has flown by. I am excited for the holidays---I love everything about it!

I went to the grocery store tonight to get all of my food for Thanksgiving and it wasn't at all the total chaos I was anticipating. I'm hosting at my house this year and am really excited to have everyone over. I'm running a turkey trot 5k the morning of Thanksgiving so I am a little nervous about timing. I need to sit out and plan the cooking schedule so I don't run out of time. Any of you guys making Thanksgiving Dinner at your house?

Onto the outfit of the day...

Jacket: WH|BM

Outfit: Finally an Outfit Post!

Hey guys! Today is Friday and after two full unproductive work days, I am welcoming two days off! This week's temps have been in the high 80's, not very Fall-like right?! Today was overcast so I took advantage of the opportunity to wear something more Fall-y.

Dress: Ann Taylor Loft
Cardi: Express
Socks: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Banana Republic

I really love the high socks with riding boots, even over jeans. I think it's just something a little more fun and different. What do you guys think?

Happy Friday!! Have a good weekend!!

New Nails: Perfect for Xmas

Hey guys! I have been loving the trend of one nail that is a pattern, glitter, or just a different color. This weekend I had OPI Bastille My Heart with OPI Muppets Rainbow Connection on my ring finger. I could not believe how quick this collection sold out at my local Ulta. There was only one polish left when I went so I ordered Rainbow Connection on Amazon (and it was only $4.50--score!)

This lasted from Sunday until now but today chipped at work with all of the packing. We are moving from our current location across campus to a new building and as I was packing all of my stuff up, the glitter chipped. I really like this polish, there are typical glitter flakes with larger hexagon shaped pieces. Looks really shiny in person---perfect for a night out or even New Year's Eve.

Tonight when I got home I decided to do the nails again and this time use a gold shimmer polish instead of the glitter. I got Glitzerland in the OPI Switzerland Collection and hadn't even tried it yet so I thought this was a perfect opportunity. I love the formula and the consistency of the glitter in the polish.

I really think this would be perfect for the holidays. I see this in my Christmas Future :-)

Speaking of Holidays, I am throwing my first ever potluck dinner this weekend and we are having a "Fall" theme with three other couples. I am planning on making boneless turkey breasts using this Rachael Ray recipe and also stuffed mushrooms using this Ina Garten recipe. I think I may make my mom's famous banana pudding also, I'll share that recipe later with pictures, it's ahhmazing!! :-)

I'm pretty excited for it and feel so grown up! I hope your week is going great!!

Outfit: Cozy and Comfy

Friends---it's almost Friday! I've been really busy this week with quarter end at work so today's goal was comfortable. I love leggings and flats---it's such an easy, peasy look.

Top: H&M
Leggings: Express
Flats: Rocket Dog
Necklace: Express

Now that the negative thoughts of the Half Marathon have passed, I am ready to sign up for another one. There is one in February called the Rock n' Roll St. Petersburg and they have live bands at every mile, plus they have really cool medals for this race. I really enjoyed training with my husband and it's nice to look forward to something so I think this is the next big one.

Oh and before I forget---if any of you have not tried Pinterest I highly recommend. I have been on it for a week and I am addicted!!!

Happy (almost) Friday!
