Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Our Halloween plans have have changed a bit from what we originally were thinking. We had planned to go out tonight to our downtown bar area for a costume party/contest they were having and we bought all of our costumes for that.

Then last night one of our friends had an impromptu Halloween party and after being up so late last night, I think we are just going to bag tonight's plans and go see my nieces and nephew all dressed up for trick or treating.

Since I didn't want to wear my "good" costume last night and tonight, I threw together a cute cat look for last night and I guess I'll save my other costume for next year--saves me time looking for another look :-)

Outfit: Express cami, Old Navy tulip skirt, fishnet stockings, and Steve Madden Bonanza boots.

This makeup was so, so fun. I did a dark smokey eye with heavy liner and mascara. I used a hot pink eye shadow on the apples of my cheeks. For my lips, I used the Smashbox Doubletake Lip Color in Cranberry

I took Urban Decay's Stardust shadow in Bobby Dazzle and dusted it on as a highlight on my T zone, even though in the pic it looks more like it's everywhere.

We had a really good time last night hanging out with good friends and even though I didn't get to wear my planned costume, there is always next year :-)

A couple of weeks ago I purchased Corioliss Classic Pro 1" Flat Iron and the Corioliss Wand Ceramic Curling Iron in 18mm from Ruelala.com. The flat iron is regularly $199 and the curling iron is regularly $99---I got them for $39 each. (If you aren't a member of Ruelala I highly recommend joining, click here for an invite).

I started playing with the curling iron today and it is so good. The curling iron heats up in 30 seconds and you leave the hair on there for literally five seconds and it's a perfect curl. It came with a glove to use to hold the hair on the wand since there isn't a clamp on the iron. I can't wait to use this for a night of going out. I am already in love. The flat iron is so far so good also.

Have any of you tried this curling iron? What do you think?

Have a Great Halloween!!

Outfit: Quirky and Casual...

I bought these Converse a couple of weeks ago and while they may not be such "my style". I really love them. I went to my brother and sister in law's tonight. I ran home from work and threw something comfy on and I really love how this looks together. I think the quirk of the Converse with shorts and stripes is a little different. I did find out however that my eleven year old niece has the same shoes---she must have great taste lol.

Shorts: Express
Top: Express
Shoes: Converse

Pumpkin update--still haven't carved it! Hopefully tomorrow lol. I'm running out of time.

Outfit: Gray and Black with a ruffle on top!

Happy Friday! Believe it or not, I have had a productive day today---the first this week it feels like. I just had lunch at my favorite French place and I had a yummy croque madam sandwich---delish! and I even took a almondine chocolate croissant to go :-)  Yum!

So this is the first time I have worn this outfit and I think it's headed to the top of my list, I really like it and it's comfy---bonus!

Skirt and Top: Banana Republic

Today is my dad's birthday so I am heading over to my brother's house after work for a get together. I get to see the baby so I am so so excited. She has been pretty fussy lately, I hope she is good for me. I'll def post a pic if I can get one. Happy Friday and have a good weekend!!

Outfit and a Little Marilyn...

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."
— Marilyn Monroe

Lately I have found some inspiration in different quotes. I have always been a fan of quotes, especially ones that are thought provoking. I really like this one.

On to my outfit--despite our high temp of 91 today, I wanted to wear something a little Fall-esque so I grabbed a short sleeve turtleneck sweater. I got this at Victoria's Secret years ago and haven't worn it all that much but I do like it, just something I forgot to grab.

Top: Victoria's Secret
Pants: Ann Taylor Loft
Wedges: Banana Republic

The hubs and I got a pumpkin on Sunday but we haven't carved it yet. We are running out of time, hopefully we will be able to carve it tomorrow. Have any of you carved a pumpkin this year? I love when people do crazy, intricate details in their pumpkins. I am not that talented but it's fun either way.

Tomorrow is Friday--it's a good day!

Outfit and a Little Sephora Haul...

Hello!! Tuesday is over and we are on our way to the hump! I have lost my steam at work and lately every day is a battle. By 3:00 I am totally gassed and just want to go home. I'm not sure if it's because I have been in this position for 4 years now and I am bored or what the deal is but it's becoming exhausting. I need to find some way to motivate myself again. When I have a trip or a vacation on the horizon, it gives me a little extra to work towards but at this time, I really don't have anything to distract my mind, instead I find myself dreading January (read: busy season) when I should be celebrating the time I have now and the upcoming Holidays. I just wish I knew what the fix was.

Sorry to be a bummer but I could tell by some of the comments the other day that I am not alone. I remember when I first graduated college and stepped into the real world I had a really hard time adjusting and how I am feeling now is slightly reminiscent of that time. I don't know what I want in the long run and I think since I love to plan all aspects of my life, the uncertainty is killing me. I know it will all work out in the end, it always does. I just need to keep reminding myself of it.

I found this really great quote the other day on www.goodreads.com and its things like this I should remember, even if it is so simple...

  • Dr. Seuss
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."
    — Dr. Seuss (Oh, the Places You'll Go!)

So onto the outfit. (Sorry I kind of got off on a rant there):

I may have posted this outfit before but I couldn't find it and I didn't remember so what the heck, here it is again (possibly).

Skirt and Top: Banana Republic
Shoes: Steve Madden
Makeup: Navy in the crease, silver on the lid

For Halloween, I needed a makeup look that is dramatic and sexy with a hint of dark goth and I found it at Sephora. For those of you that don't know, Sephora has an awesome iPhone app that has how to's and get the look videos and right now there are tons of Halloween videos with corresponding makeup kits to buy. I wasn't planning to buy the kit because I have pretty much everything to do the look. I went to Sephora for eyelashes but the eyelash selection was so so and I really wanted dramatic lashes so I ended up buying this kit anyways even though I am not dressing as a vamp.

I bought this kit and I am almost out of mascara so I picked up a tube of that also. The eyelashes in the kit are major, I am so excited to try them. It also came with black eyeliner, a dark silver shadow, a red liner and a red gloss. I am super excited to do my makeup look on Halloween.

Here is a swatch of the lip liner with the gloss on top, the eye liner, and the shadow.

The silver is a nice color with a heavy shimmer. The red is pretty but I think for Halloween I am going to need something a little darker. I'll def sport the red sometime though--maybe a good thing to have for a Holiday party.

Anyone wearing any dramatic Halloween makeup this weekend??

Outfit for a Monday, not so Lazy Day!

It's Monday---again! This morning as I was driving into work the song "The Lazy Day" but Bruno Mars came one and it was just fitting.
The song talks about not wanting to do anything---pretty much how I am feeling. I just want to relax and hang out today---definitely not work. I am having some internal battles and decisions with work that are kind of exhausting so to say the least, I'm blah this Monday morning.

Enough of the blah Monday crap and onto the outfit :-) :

Skirt, Tank, & Cardi: Banana Republic
Shoes: Jessica Simpson

I love the look of a neutral eye and one swipe of color underneath the lower lash. I think it leaves a little hint of something interesting. Please excuse the wet hair--I promise it was dry by the time I got to work, fashionably late as always.

Tomorrow I am heading to Sephora to grab some seductive lashes for my Halloween costume. I am hoping I can get some from MUFE, they always have an awesome collection.

Here's to a great week and hopes that I can clear all of this mumbo-jumbo from my thoughts and just embrace what I have. Love you all!!

Dead Serious...

I have expressed to you all that I love dressing up, whether it be for a nice night out or in costume, doesn't matter. Last night was the latter. Last night was Zombicon and my friends, hubs, and I all dressed as the walking dead.

This years theme at Zombicon was Pirates so we all donned our pirate gear and headed out for the night. The bestie and I even got white contacts to take it to the next level. My husband refused to look at me with the contacts in. It was so fun making eye contact with everyone all night and getting tons of comments and double takes. Here are some pictures from the night...

Two besties and me before leaving
In the elevator on the way out
Me and the bestie with the crazy eyes
This was a real person dressed up---crazy right!
Me, bestie, and hubs!
These two had pretty awesome costumes too!
The crew
Me and the hubs

So there you have it---crazy Zombie pics. Do any of you have any exciting Halloween plans? I love this time of year, it's like the kick-off to the Holidays! Love it!

I am feeling pretty good today but kind of tired since we didn't get home and settled in until 4:00 this morning. I am scheduled to do a 6 mile run today but not sure if I am going to make it. I might postpone it until tomorrow. Let's see if I can get a nap in this afternoon and maybe I'll be able to make it.

Happy Sunday all!

Casual Saturday Outfit...

Today is Zombie day (yay!) and the hubs is hanging out with me for the day. Saturdays we are usually on our own as he always goes fishing but he isn't going today so we have some time together. We went to breakfast this morning at First Watch and I realized that I rarely show you guys casual outfits so I thought I would show you this cute running shirt I got from Nike.

(excuse the butt out pic, I was trying to see the camera screen while taking a pic lol)
Top: Nike
Shorts: Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes: Converse

While I know I am a slow running and most people would yes indeed be able to catch me, I just thought this tee was too cute.

Happy Weekend!! I'm so excited for tonight--pics will be up tomorrow even though I'm not sure how many of you are interested in pics of the dead ;-)

Outfit Ruffles!

Happy Friday! I am so excited for this Friday because we have an exciting weekend of Zombie fun! I'm sorry I have been kind of out of the outfit post but to be honest, I haven't been inspired. I am so ready to wear Fall clothes but this weather is not cooperating.

I think I am going to see if hubs wants to go get a pumpkin tonight. I love carving pumpkins. We usually each get our own, mine is usually smiling, and hubs is well...not. :-)

Here is the outfit of the day:

Top: Express, seen here, for sale here
Cardi: Express, seen here
Skirt: Express (I just realized my whole outfit is Express, hmm)
Shoes: Steve Madden Trinitie

Braided hair has really been my friend since I have started running so often. When I run after work, I obviously shower then and I can't imagine blowing my hair dry at that moment so I have been letting is air dry and going to bed with half dry hair, causing this mess of kinky and wavy hair. To say the least, I have been rocking some sort of braid at least a couple times a week.

Speaking of running, I have to say that I have been sticking with it and I am actually starting to notice improvement. I am up to 5 miles with my 6 mile run coming up on Sunday. I did think that it would start to become easier but while I am improving in stamina, it's still not easy by any means. I'm still totally exhausted and I can't run the whole distance but I am running the majority of it.

Have a great day and remember it's Friday!!

Loving: Ugg Cardy

So this loving post is definitely bordering irrational. Yes I live in Florida and Yes it is still highs in the 90's and upper 80's but I have been eyeing this boot for a while now and I am finally thinking about taking the plunge.

I need to know what you think---here is what I am thinking. I've read that this boot is not near as warm as other Ugg boots (a plus for me) and it does get cold here for prob 2-3 months, low's in the 30's and 40's. Also, I love wearing comfy shoes and due to this, I imagine that I will wear these often. I have a client in Atlanta that I will be at for two weeks in the winter---another plus, right?! And we are planning a December vacation somewhere cold and I'll get use out of them then too.

I just need to know if I am being irrational or if I'll get use out of these. I have other boots but those are more for going out versus a casual stroll walking the dog or grabbing a coffee with the hubs.

For those of you that have these, tell me what you think?? Also what about sizing, I wear between and 8.5 and a 9 and I read you should size down so should I go with an 8??

Thanks for all of your help! I need it lol!!
