Looking ahead...

I have been reading about Spring trends a lot lately and all of this talk of spring has me excited for the upcoming months. I want warm weather and slowed down workload and pool time every weekend. In looking forward to these things I have some things I have my eye on that I want to get for this spring/summer...

First off I must say that Michael Kors is my favorite designer based on personality, with DVF a close second. Everything I have seen of him, both on and off Project Runway, seem so genuine and absolutely funny I love him (and his fabulous analogies)! Not only do I love him, I love his handbags, sunglasses, belts, and well most of his stuff. In search for anything and everything, I came across this purse and I am in love. The color is amazing and so light and fresh and the shape is refreshingly different for me also. I tend to buy large boxy purses but I think this could be an awesome addition to my collection.

In addition to this Michael Kors bag, I am also looking for a large brown/tan bag. I am picturing something like this one from Banana. I really think something like this will be good for everyday since I usually carry stuff for work, something to snack on, and a water bottle at any given moment. I think having a larger, more structured bag will be a nice contrast to any floral, flirty items.

This dress from Anthro is so unusual for me but I weirdly love it. I think it's so adorable and would look amazing with a wide brown or neutral belt, a cardi, and some platforms or booties. Love it!

Recently I have been informed (by the hubs) that I am pasty. I know I should be concerned with looking tan and just enjoy my light complexion but I hate it. I think I look thinner and healthy with a nice glow. I am stubborn about this so we will just move on from this and look at some bikinis that I am dying to have. I can just picture myself (minus 5-8 lbs) tanning by the pool in the baking Florida sun (with a drink and magazine in hand)...
This one is bright and looks fun. These types of tops usually work best for me...
...and who can say no to sequins!

I have had really good luck with VS bathing suit and they are my go to place. They have great selection and really good return policy.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but I totally started this blog with no plan in place. I usually have an idea of where I want to go but tonight I am winging it...not sure if it's the wonderful martini my husband made for me when I got home or not.

Any specific items you have seen that you can't wait to have for spring/summer---share a link below! Have a great rest of the week---the hump is so close!

Future projects for Summer...

As most of you know, I have recently become interested in sewing and due to my so new skills, I have been taking it easy. I have only sewed two skirts successfully but I am committing to begin perfecting my skills this summer. I have "ordered" a dress form from the hubs for my b-day ;-) and to give me even more to look forward to, JoAnn's had all of their patterns on sale of $1 so I bought the max, 10! These patterns usually run from $10-$15 each so to say the least, I was pumped when I heard the news. Take a look at what I got, I was able to find all but one online. I cannot wait to begin these project once I stop working Saturdays!

This is my fave one. This jersey dress looks so light and summery. I think this is going to be my first project on tap. This jacket also is adorable. I think I may scrap the ties on it but overall adorable.

Here are some others---let me know which you love and which you are not too fond of. I cannot wait for this opportunity to learn and grow my ability. One day maybe I'll trade in my Microsoft Excel for a sewing machine...lol!

Every option with this pattern I adore. The ruffle dress is fabulous and the tops/skirt separates would be perfect for work...

This one I think looks cute and would be great for a daytime church or brunch dress. I don't know how much I would wear something like this but overall I think it's cute...

This dress may have to be the last thing I make because that collar looks challenging but I think it's worth it. All possibly choices for this dress are nice and I'd love to make any of them...

Love this skirt and since I have made a tulip skirt, I think this is a def do-able project...

I see the perfect summer dress or beach cover up in this white look and the others as well...

The dress on the left would be perfect for work in the spring/summer...

The dress on the left looks cute for work and the one on the right looks like the cutest little party dress...

Love these tunics...

So there you have it...Hopefully I will be posting pictures of these finished project soon. Only time will tell. I hope everyone is having a great week so far!!

V-Day dinner was ...

AWESOME! I have never made risotto before and while it was very time consuming to make, it was sooo good. I made a recipe from Giada DeLaurentis' Everyday Italian cookbook. We also made Chicken Piccatta and Panna Cotta from that cookbook as well. Here are some pics to make you hungry... ;-)

...and a little Chardonnay for make everything a little nicer

Panna Cotta...

This would ideally be served in wine or martini glasses but all of my wine glasses are white wine and a little narrow at the top. Coffee mugs worked perfectly. This dessert was the perfect light and creamy treat to top of my dinner and my day. Happy Valentine's Day peeps and I hope everyone has a great week. I am off to enjoy a long bath and this month's Glamour magazine.

Valentine's Weekend...

My Valentine's weekend started yesterday after an 11 hour work day. My husband and I had an 8:30 reservation at Chop's City Grille. For any of you in the area, this is an excellent steak house. The food was excellent and we only had to wait a few minutes. This place is usually packed, especially in season so it was nice to have a chaos free dining experience. I had prime rib and baked potato with  'Maui' cocktail (pineapple martini) and the hubs had porterhouse with parmesan truffle potatoes and Belvedere and tonic (the usual).

My makeup look was a little out of the norm for me and I loved it. I hope you do too. Here is my overall look:
Top: Ann Taylor
Cardigan: NY&Co
Jeans: Express Barely Boot
Shoes: Black Satin w. a bow (Glint brand from Nordstroms)
Makeup:

Makeup Look:
I did a burgundy color lightly in the crease with a light pink shimmer MAC pigment on the lid. I used a matte pale pink for a highlight color. Eyeliner in a dark burgundy cream liner with a black eyeliner close to the lash line. DiorShow mascara. Face makeup was Revlon Dream Matte Liquid with Benefit's Boi-ing Concealer and Hello Flawless powder. I used the new Benefit Stay Don't Stray primer for the third time and so far I love it. I plan on doing a full review of this product after a week of use. Lips was a nude Sephora brand lipstick with MAC Cruise Control Dazzleglass over it.

(on the way to dinner)

Since we did dinner last night, we went ahead and exchanged gifts then too. We usually do not exchange costly gifts for this holiday. Hubs got me a dozen red roses---beautiful. We also have this great little shop in downtown The Daily Chocolate and he got me an assortment of chocolates and Organic Hot Chocolate that I plan on trying tonight.

Tonight I am making dinner at home. On the menu we have Chicken Ceasar salad, Piccata, Risotto, and Panna Cotta w/ berries for dessert. Pictures will be posted (if it actually turns out hehe)

My 2 Valentine Loves

I hope all of you are enjoying you Valentine's Day and if you aren't celebrating--I hope you are having a warm and cozy Sunday.

Things I am Loving...Fab in Feb!

Sheesh…
I’m not going to lie, this week has been rough. About this time, halfway though the busy-ness, I go a little crazy. I am tired of working long hours and tired of working six days a week. To top things off, I got a migraine after work yesterday. So in the 2-3 little hours I get to spend with my husband, they were spent lying in bed, crying and cursing at someone/anyone that may have wished this migraine upon me. So as I was sitting at work today, I was trying to stay positive which meant I decided I should blog! Yay!!

Here is a mosh-posh of stuff I have loved.seen.coveted.bought! Enjoy!!!

First up we have Sephora 2010 Spring Catalog! :::applause from the crowds:::

(1) Pink Lips!

This Spring hot pinks are going to be everywhere---especially lips. Sephora's catalog shows lots of cute option for pink lips. I have been drawn to the Smashbox Spring 2010 line since I first saw it and the pink lips in this advertisement especially.

I finally broke down and bought the look and here it is! (after a long day of work--disregard everything but lips please!)

Lipstick: Smashbox Photo Finish Flirty
Lip Gloss: Smashbox Lip Shine in Berry Hot

(2) Green Polish!

OPI by Sephora in Leaf Him at the Alter:

Illamasqua in Milf:
This color is very similar to Jade by Chanel that has been all of the rage for a few months now.

OPI in Jade is the New Black:

Secondly, after the recent chats on The Nest about cocktail rings, I just couldn’t resist. I ordered two rings from Banana Republic and I love them. One is an ivory colored rose with a crystal-esque leaf. So adorable and perfect to make any little outfit a little more darling.
The second ring is a bling-y flower (no pic yet). I love it! I think these little gems will be the perfect edition to make any going out outfit pop. I can’t wait to wear them. I am going to have a hard time deciding which to wear for my V-Day outfit. Maybe I’ll just be daring and wear one to work so as not to discriminate. Who says bank auditing isn’t the right environment for bling! (maybe everyone?!? Anyone!?!?)

In addition to these two rings, I also purchased some less expensive versions from Fred Flare

I have seen Kandee Johnson wearing this oversized yellow rose ring and I love it. I saw a similar version for about $12 and I couldn’t resist. They are en route now and should be arriving tomorrow, just in time for Valentine’s Day!

When I was browsing the Fred Flare website, I couldn’t pass up these little reminders of my childhood. I seriously think I had these circa 1988. Heart shaped glasses---who can resist! I cannot even image the look on the hubs face when I whip these bad boys out. HeHe! I think I’ll be sporting these on the way to work everyday just to make my morning a little brighter!

 Let’s see….let’s see…

Oh yeah---I have an idea for a make-up look that I am planning to wear for my upcoming Valentine’s day with the hubs (even though I have NO idea what we are doing or where we are going). I think I’ll do a practice run and post for your approval. It’s going to be a nude, glowing look, something different from my smokey eye norm. I was inspired somewhat from Victoria Beckham’s look on this cover of Glamour---she looks FAB!

Ok I think I have rambled enough for one night. Fill me in on how things are going with you all? Any new purchases?? Any exciting Valentine’s Plans?!? Please---I need a distractions LOL!

Xoxo

Valentine's Give-A-Way...

For Valentine's Day I thought I would have my first blog give a way. Enter Benefit's new eye primer:

I have not yet tried this and I figured we'd try it together. I have read some rave reviews about this, hopefully it lives up to its reputation.

To enter the give-a-way, you must be a follower and comment below. I'll randomly draw a name on Saturday, February 13th. So excited!! Good Luck!

January Haul...

Since I haven't had a lot of time to post blogs of recent purchases, I am going to post one gigantic blog post of all my January purchases.

During the first week of January I spent a week in Atlanta for a client. I must say the level of excitement that came over me when I was driving through Atlanta and saw an H&M billboard was unimaginable. The last time I went to an H&M was in 2004 and I was a poor college student and therefore did not have the means to shop. My coworker and I went to H&M after work one night and here are my finds. I did not go overboard for two reasons (1) I am trying to curb spending and save more and (2) the hubs would kill me ;-)

(this didn't photograph well but its a draped high waisted skirt. This was paired with a black blazer on the mannequin and it was really cute)

This top from Express is uber cute and simple. I love the look on an easy breezy tank top with a pop of surprise with the sequins. I wore this with jeans and heels out to dinner and I really liked it.

With a 40% off coupon from Ann Taylor, I decided to peruse the site and see what was new. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. All of their stuff was so girly and cute. I picked up this top in a lovely blush color. I am planning on wearing it with a black tulip skirt for Valentine's Day with the hubs.

As we are all aware, I am a little bit of a nail polish whore so when I saw the wonderfully glittered OPI's Alice in Wonderland collection, I ordered Mad as a Hatter asap. I love it! It's so sparkly and it has every possible color in the rainbow. I love it!

I also picked up Essie's Neo-Whimsical which I talked about here. While I didn't love the formula during the application, I must say that it lasted five days with no chips which is absolutely unheard of for me. The tips are fading a bit but usually my nails are chipped after one day. I may have to eat my words.

During this past week, I was in Atlanta again and this time I visited the wonderful Lenox Square. Due to work, I was not able to spend lots of time there but I did get to go to Anthropologie. I have only been in this store a couple times and I just love the girly, flirti-ness of this store. I got this really cute top:

I also picked up this necklace. They had a lot of cute necklaces but this one was by far my fave.

I also picked up a cute necklace for my friends' but I don't have a pic. :-(

I did find this cute box ponytail holder in the sale bin for $4---uber cutie patootie!

I picked up this concealer from Benefit. I read some good reviews on Sephora's site about Boi-ing and thought I'd give it a try. I must admit that I have never used a concealer. If I have a blemish, I usually just layer some foundation over it which doesn't really work great but it worked a little at least. I really like this concealer so far.

And as usual, I have saved the best for last. I absolutely LOVE these shoes. I saw these at Banana and fell in love but since I get so many BR coupons, I didn't want to shell out the $120 for the shoes. My lovely, wonderful pal H offered my one of her 40% off coupons and to say the least, I got these shoes for a deal. I cannot wait to sport these shoes all spring/summer. While they are gray, they are light enough to for spring and to go with some of the H&M purchases I got and all of the great trends this spring. Love them!
Sapphire in the Snow on the pigs ;-)

Show me some of your January purchases?!
